3. What are the some of the documents required in applying for undergraduate and
postgraduate degrees?

Application Form and fees (if applicable)
Transcript in English (If Applicable)
IELTS / TOEFL score
GMAT and work experience are required for some business related programs.
Two or three letters of recommendation from either your senior lecturer or former employer.

4. How long does it take for a response after the application has been submitted?

It usually takes about 4-6 weeks, but depending on the subjects and courses applied for, it
could be longer or shorter.

5. Do the universities have ranking?

Students should not put too much importance on rankings as a university ranked low overall may
have a high ranking in the student's area of interest. Worldwide can advise you on this subject.
For England, ranking information is available at British Council. - For United States, ranking
information is available at: http://www.usnews.com/ For Australia, New Zealand and Canada,
there are no academic rankings.

6. In applying, what English test is required?

Both TOEFL and IELTS are acceptable. However, IELTS is preferred in Canada,England,
Australia and New Zealand. While TOEFL is preferred in United States.

9. What are the benefits in applying through IIEC?

By applying direct, students will have to gather information, contact, and follow up on the
application and accommodation by themselves. These processes often consume time and cost.
IIEC will provide you with Upto date information on the entire process of your study abroad
experience. WEc, on your behalf, will co-ordinate with the universities in submitting and following
up on the applications and the accommodation. In addition, our staffs can assist and advice you
on Visa Guidelines and travel arrangements.

10. Are students allowed to work while studying?

For England and New Zealand, international students are allowed to work 20 hours per week.
In Australia, international students are allowed to work only if students have a work permit and
can work 20 hours per week. To obtain the work permit, student must be enrolled in a course at
the university. For More information is available in DIMIA (Department of Immigration and
Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs) web site, http://www.immi.gov.au/students - International
students in the United States are allowed to work only On-Campus and should not exceed 20
hours per week. - In Canada, students that enrolled to short courses (less than 6 months) are not
entitled to work. International students are allowed to work On-campus as well,Off-campus.it
differs region by region. Generally student can work 20 hours per week.

11. What if I do not have the IELTS results or if the result does not meet the
university's requirements, can I still apply for a Postgraduate program?

Universities may offer Conditional Offer based on his/her IELTS or TOEFL results with the
acceptable score or above before a given date. Students may also be accepted with condition that
they may be required to attend an intensive or pre-sessional English class before attending
academic classes. The duration of the class will depend on the students' level of English.

12. Do I have to take the IELTS / TOEFL test again after I have completed the
universities' English courses?

Sometimes but frequently the universities have their own English test at the end of the course.
Check with your counselor for more details.

13. How can students contact the IIEC staff while studying abroad?

IIEC always welcomes questions and feedbacks from students. Our staff can be contacted at
care@iiec.co.in. In addition, once students have arrived at the university, they should contact the
university International Student office for further advice either on your study, accommodation, or
personal problems.

14. When does the academic year begin?

In General - January, April, July and September (Major intake, for most of the countries).Please
check with your counselor for exact dates and months based up on countries.

15. When is the best time to submit the application?

Since most universities have limited number of seats in some courses and in the university, it is
important to apply as early as possible. Therefore, students should plan ahead atleast 8 months
before the academic year begins. For the most popular courses, you should consider applying as
much as 10-12 months in advance.

16. Is health check-up required in applying for visa and before the flight?

- For England, New Zealand and United States, health check-up is not required. Students should
bring along your medical certificate in case it is requested. - For Australia, medical certificate and
chest x-ray is required in applying for your visa. Students must fill in the medical form provided at
the Australia embassy. - For Canada, medical check-up is required from students if the course
taken is longer than 6 months.

17. If I would like to apply for a postgraduate degree but my qualifications do not meet
the university requirements, what should I do?

First, you might consider other courses or universities that may accept your qualifications. You may
consider taking an entrance exam such as GRE or GMAT as a good score on these tests will
enhance your application. You may also consider postponing your study and gain more work
experience.

18. Can I apply for Business Degree but having no degree from the related fields?

Yes, but it depends on each of the university's terms and conditions or you may need
commensurate work experience. Your IIEC counselor can advise you on specifics.

19. In applying for MBA, is GMAT required by the universities?

GMAT is a requirement for students applying for MBA to most universities in United States and
Canada. For England, Australia, and New Zealand, and only particular universities require GMAT.

20. Comparing between countries will there be any difference in terms of English
accent?


English accent or pronunciation varies between cities and countries. You may want to consider
taking an English course in the country where you will be studying even if you have achieved the
required IELTS or TOEFL score.

21. When is the last day to submit the application?

Normally in UK, Australia and New Zealand, there is no specific deadline in submitting your
application. The earlier you send the applications, the better chance you gain acceptance. Many
North American universities have application deadlines and you should see your counselor about
the universities in which you are interested.

Your IELTS/ TOEFL score will show the university your level of English language speaking and
SSS comprehension. The minimum requirements vary depending upon the institution and the course.
